The district is also recruiting candidates for its substitute teacher pool. The ‘sub pool’ would be a group of individuals who would serve as long-term substitute teachers as well as be on-call for other temporary vacancies. Substitute teachers will receive training and orientation as part of their hire. Current staff who recommend successful candidates for substitute teachers would receive a $500 incentive for each successful referral.
Normandy has also raised the daily rate of pay for substitute teachers, now paying a range of $130-175 per day.
“This is an extremely tight job market for employers and we are committed to having high quality candidates for these critical roles with our district,” said Marcus C. Robinson, Normandy Superintendent of Schools. “And while we know the job market is tight, we also know the pandemic has caused some to look for more meaningful career opportunities, opportunities to make a positive impact in the community. Education is the perfect venue for those individuals and we encourage them to join us as we continue to transform and build the premiere education system for the Normandy community.”
